Position Summary
The Pole Setter is responsible for operating heavy equipment to dig holes, set utility poles, and complete related tasks such as tamping and backfilling. The role includes both equipment operation and physical labor, often performed in varying environmental and terrain conditions. This position is critical to the construction and maintenance of power and communication lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate boom and auger controls to dig holes for setting utility poles.
- Use equipment and controls to place poles into holes and make necessary adjustments for alignment and depth.
- Tamp and shovel dirt to secure poles in place or to backfill holes after pole removal.
- Operate and maneuver off-road and heavy equipment such as mini-excavators and pole trailers.
- Load and unload poles from trailers safely and efficiently.
- Assist team members in filling or tamping around poles as needed.
- Attach identifying numbers to poles as part of the installation process.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy equipment operation, especially augers and boom trucks, is an asset.
- Comfort working outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and work in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license (commercial license may be required depending on equipment).
Language Requirements:
- English required.
- French not required.
