We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Controller to join our team. As a Traffic Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic in construction zones.
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic flow around construction sites to ensure safety for both workers and the public.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, and construction personnel to provide instructions and guidance.
- Monitor road conditions and report any hazards or issues to supervisors.
- Assist in the operation of heavy equipment when required, particularly during paving and building activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks on-site.
- Prior experience in construction site safety or traffic control roles preferred but not required
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks is a plus
- Familiarity with utility locating procedures and safety standards
- Ability to operate basic traffic control equipment such as flagging devices and signage
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with construction teams and the public
- Attention to detail for maintaining accurate logs and safety documentation
- Valid certification in traffic control or flagging (preferred but not mandatory)
Skills
- Ability to build and dismantle traffic control setups.
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation for traffic control purposes.
- Strong communication skills to interact with team members and the public efficiently.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license.
