Position Summary
Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Welder/Metal Fabricator will be responsible for fabricating and welding various components and performing basic mechanical tasks on construction equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values safety, and takes pride in craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld components for a diverse fleet of vehicles and construction equipment.
- Perform welding using FCAW, MIG, SMAW, and GMAW techniques.
- Design and fabricate custom parts and equipment as required.
- Test, inspect, and ensure quality and safety of welds.
- Operate hoisting, lifting equipment, metal brakes, shears, and other fabrication tools.
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and blueprints.
- Perform minor mechanical repairs related to fabrication tasks.
- Install, up-fit, and remount chassis equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate PPE.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of welding/fabrication experience is considered a strong asset.
- Proficient in FCAW, MIG, SMAW, and GMAW welding techniques.
- Mechanical and hydraulic systems experience is an asset.
- Welding certification or equivalent training is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong understanding of welding and metal fabrication safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
